Odisha Govt Suspends Komna Tehsildar Over ₹68 Lakh Land Deal

Nuapada: The Odisha government has suspended Komna Tehsildar‑cum‑Ex‑Officio Sub‑Registrar Sarbeswar Jala following allegations of irregularities in a land transaction worth Rs 68 lakh.

The suspension, issued under Rule 12(1)(a) of the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1962, comes amid disciplinary proceedings.

Jala’s headquarters during suspension will be at the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Northern Division), Sambalpur, and he cannot leave without prior permission.

He will receive subsistence allowance as per service rules.

The Nuapada Collector has been directed to serve the suspension order, prepare draft charges, and submit supporting documents.

Allegations include a land deal involving 4 acres and 40 decimals, where the transaction was allegedly conducted using the landowner’s name but another person’s photograph.

Payment was reportedly planned through three undated cheques, with discussions held inside the Tehsildar’s chamber.

A case has been registered at Komna police station, and investigations are ongoing.

Officials clarified that suspension does not establish guilt; responsibility will be determined after departmental proceedings and police inquiry.
