GMAPV Scheme: State Panel Pushes for Faster Implementation

The State-Level Steering Committee has reviewed the progress of 322 Godabarish Mishra Adarsh Prathamik Vidyalayas (GMAPV) across Odisha, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening primary education infrastructure.

Chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg at Lok Seva Bhawan, the meeting assessed the construction status of 118 schools in Phase I and 204 schools in Phase II.

Senior officials, including Development Commissioner Deoranjan Kumar Singh and School & Mass Education Secretary Dr N. Thirumala Naik, participated.

Key discussions focused on school selection criteria, infrastructure design, land acquisition challenges, and monitoring mechanisms.

To address land constraints, the committee proposed allowing schools at the most populated Panchayat location when headquarters land is unavailable.

Plans were also made to expand the GMAPV Cell with technical, academic, administrative, and financial staff to ensure stronger inspection and supervision.

The committee emphasised inter-departmental coordination, curriculum updates, and timely interventions for effective implementation.

The schools will feature modern, child-friendly facilities including classrooms, nursery sections, entrance lobbies, principal staff rooms, and offices.

The initiative aims to deliver quality primary education supported by robust infrastructure and qualified teachers, ensuring improved learning environments across the state.
