Odisha Govt Hikes AYUSH Faculty Salaries, Boosts Traditional Medicine Education
Bhubaneswar, April 28: In a landmark move, the Odisha government has revised salaries for contractual faculty in Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medical colleges, aiming to strengthen AYUSH education and improve faculty retention.
Under the new structure, Lecturers will receive Rs 70,000/month, Readers Rs 80,000/month (up from Rs 40,000), and Professors Rs 1,00,000/month (up from Rs 50,000).
The Finance Department has approved the proposal, with immediate rollout across government AYUSH institutions.
Health Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, stating that the hike will motivate teachers, raise academic standards, and attract young doctors to traditional medicine streams.
The decision reflects Odisha’s commitment to holistic healthcare and valuing educators.
This salary revision is expected to boost teaching quality, enhance healthcare services, and modernise AYUSH education, positioning Odisha as a frontrunner in traditional medicine development.
