Odisha Govt Begins Induction Workshop for 120 PGTs

Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha, has rolled out a two‑phase induction workshop for 120 newly recruited Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in Sanskrit and Economics.

The program, held at IMAGE, Siripur, runs from July 20–24 and July 27–31, 2026.

The initiative aims to strengthen higher secondary education by equipping teachers with skills in pedagogy, administration, and student welfare.

Participants include faculty serving in Government Higher Secondary Schools and Government Upgraded Higher Secondary Schools.

The inaugural session was graced by Director of Elementary Education Balamukunda Meena, UNICEF Field Office Chief Prasanta Kumar Das, and Director of Higher Secondary Education Niyati Patnaik.

Key focus areas of the workshop include:

  • Implementation of NEP 2020
  • Gender equality and inclusive practices
  • ICT integration in classrooms
  • Odisha Education Rules and digital portals (SAMS, Shiksha Jyoti)
  • POSH Act compliance
  • Scholarship management
  • Administrative duties and exam planning
  • Career counselling for students

Shri Meena urged teachers to guide students toward responsible citizenship, while Shri Das highlighted their role in preventing vulnerable activities among youth.

Smt. Patnaik emphasised applying workshop learnings for holistic student development.
