Odisha Govt Approves 755 New Medical Posts to Boost Healthcare and Education
In a landmark move, the Odisha government has sanctioned 755 new doctor and faculty posts across government medical colleges and hospitals.
The decision aims to strengthen medical education, improve patient care, and address faculty shortages in the state’s expanding healthcare infrastructure.
The approved positions include 7 Professors, 35 Associate Professors, 50 Assistant Professors, 29 Tutors, 248 Senior Residents, 190 Junior Residents (MBBS), 112 Casualty Medical Officers (CMOs), and 84 Blood Bank Officers (BBOs).
Health Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling stated that under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s leadership, healthcare development remains a top priority.
He emphasised that the new appointments will enhance the teacher-student ratio, improve the doctor-patient ratio, and ensure round-the-clock patient care, particularly in emergency and critical departments.
This announcement follows Odisha’s recent expansion in medical education, with three new medical colleges adding 250 MBBS seats and postgraduate seats increasing to 68.
The newly approved posts are expected to fill the urgent need for faculty and resident doctors created by these expansions.
