Odisha DGP Reviews Law & Order Ahead of Festivals
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Vinaytosh Mishra convened a high‑level review meeting at the State Police Headquarters to assess law and order in the Central Range ahead of the upcoming festive season.
Senior officials, including ADGPs, IGPs, DIGs, and SPs, participated in the session.
The DGP emphasised crime control measures targeting murder, robbery, dacoity, road accident fatalities, excise offences, and cybercrime. He directed timely charge‑sheet filing to improve conviction rates.
With major festivals such as Ganesh Puja, Nuakhai, Vishwakarma Puja, Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Diwali, Anla Navami, Panchuka, and Bali Jatra approaching, police units were instructed to strengthen crowd management, traffic regulation, and coordination with peace committees and community leaders.
Mishra also ordered intensified naka checking to curb illegal cattle transport, mineral smuggling, and other unlawful activities.
Surveillance in communally sensitive areas, monitoring of habitual offenders, and vigilance against misinformation on social media were highlighted as priorities.
The DGP urged officers to enhance police‑public relations through community engagement, regular field visits, and teamwork across all ranks to ensure a safe and peaceful festive season.
