Odisha Unveils “Utkalaa: Shri Ganesh” Handicrafts Expo in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Department of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts has inaugurated Odisha’s first state‑level handicrafts exhibition, “Utkalaa: Shri Ganesh”, at Ekamra Haat.

Running from September 8 to 13, 2026, the exhibition is open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM.

A total of 34 artisans from 16 districts are participating across 33 stalls, showcasing idols and artworks crafted from clay, wood, stone, terracotta, paddy, coconut coir, brass, bell metal, palm leaves, and traditional Pattachitra paintings.

The theme centers on Shri Ganesh, aligning with the festive spirit of Ganesh Puja.

The initiative introduces “Utkalaa” as a new brand identity for Odisha’s handloom and handicrafts sector, supporting Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

By combining display and sale, the exhibition provides artisans direct access to customers, aiming to boost incomes, strengthen the local economy, and preserve cultural heritage.

Officials described the event as a symbolic fresh beginning for Odisha’s handicrafts industry.
