Odisha CM Inaugurates India’s First FRP Aluminium Unit in Sambalpur | Rs 26,996 Cr Project
Sambalpur, Odisha: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated India’s first Flat Rolled Products (FRP) aluminium unit at Hindalco’s Aditya Aluminium plant in Lapanga, Sambalpur.
The landmark project, worth Rs 26,996 crore, is expected to generate 5,012 direct jobs and significantly boost downstream manufacturing in the state.
Speaking at the event, Majhi emphasised that industrial growth must translate into tangible benefits for families and villages across Odisha.
He highlighted the government’s vision of creating employment opportunities for youth, ensuring family security, and improving access to education and healthcare.
Odisha is currently advancing with nearly Rs 20 lakh crore worth of industrial proposals, projected to create 15 lakh jobs once operational.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated the 25th edition of CII Enterprise Odisha 2026 in Rourkela, showcasing innovations, MSME participation, and the state’s industrial capabilities.
The expo also celebrated Western Odisha’s rich cultural heritage with vibrant performances and Rourkela’s first drone show, symbolising the region’s blend of tradition and modern industrial progress.
