Odisha Braces for Fresh Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that Odisha may face another spell of heavy rainfall next week as a fresh low‑pressure system is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal.

The depression that triggered widespread flooding across several districts has now moved away, settling over central Vidarbha and adjoining south Madhya Pradesh.

However, IMD’s extended outlook warns of a new upper‑air cyclonic circulation between July 31 and August 6, with a low‑pressure area expected to develop around August 7–13.

This system could bring renewed rainfall across Odisha and neighbouring states, raising concerns for districts still struggling with waterlogging and flood recovery.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, as the exact intensity and impact zones will become clearer in the coming days.
