Nuapada Forest Watcher Succumbs to Burns Battling Odisha Wildfire

Nuapada district mourns the tragic loss of forest watcher Maheswar Naik (30), who succumbed to severe burn injuries sustained while battling a forest fire near Koilakhala under the Sinapali range.

Naik, a resident of Dhingiamunda village, was part of a team attempting to douse flames when he accidentally caught fire. The blaze spread rapidly due to dry leaves and strong winds, making containment difficult.

Despite immediate rescue efforts by colleagues and villagers, Naik suffered critical injuries.

He was rushed to the Sinapali Community Health Centre, later referred to the district hospital, and finally shifted to Raipur Medical College.

After days of intensive treatment, he passed away, leaving behind grieving family members and colleagues.
