Nayagarh Firecracker Blast: Owner Dies at AIIMS, Toll Rises to Three

Nayagarh district witnessed a fresh tragedy as the death toll from the Korada village firecracker blast climbed to three.

The unit owner, Hadibandhu Sethi, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

Earlier, two labourers, Niranjan Nahak and Bapuni Nahak, had lost their lives due to severe burn injuries sustained in the April 3 explosion during preparations for the Dasapalla Lankapodi Yatra.

At least six others, including a minor boy, were critically injured in the incident.

Victims were first rushed to Nuagaon Primary Health Centre, later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, and subsequently referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

Three remain under treatment, with two reported in critical condition.

The blast has left Korada village in shock, raising urgent questions about safety standards in firecracker manufacturing units.

Authorities, including fire services and police, responded swiftly to the site, but the incident underscores the need for stricter enforcement of safety protocols to prevent such tragedies.
