Naveen Patnaik Slams BJP Over PUC Certificate Fiasco

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, accusing it of mishandling the Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate issue and confusing the public with frequent policy U‑turns.

Patnaik said the BJP’s inconsistent approach to enforcing PUC norms has caused unnecessary distress to vehicle owners across the state.

He alleged that the government’s lack of planning and clarity has led to chaos, undermining public trust in governance.

Highlighting the inconvenience faced by ordinary citizens, Patnaik described the episode as a “fiasco” that reflects the BJP’s careless style of administration.

He urged the Centre to adopt a more responsible and transparent approach to policymaking, especially on matters directly affecting people’s daily lives.

The remarks come amid growing criticism of the BJP’s governance style, with opposition leaders framing the PUC controversy as part of a larger pattern of mismanagement and poor planning.
