Nabarangpur Toddler Critically Injured in Stray Dog Attack, Shifted to Sishu Bhawan

Nabarangpur: A one-and-a-half-year-old child sustained critical injuries after being attacked by a stray dog in Chaunsria Sahi under Koshagumuda block of Nabarangpur district.

The incident has sparked concerns among local residents over the growing menace of stray animals in residential areas.

According to reports, the toddler was sleeping inside the house when a stray dog entered and attacked him.

The child suffered severe injuries to his face, eyes, and cheeks before family members rushed to rescue him.

Hearing the child’s cries, his aunt attempted to save him but was also attacked by the dog.

Local residents quickly gathered at the spot and managed to chase the animal away, preventing further harm.

The injured child was first taken to Kodinga Community Health Centre and later shifted to the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital.

As his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput for advanced treatment.

Due to the seriousness of his injuries, the toddler was subsequently transferred to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishu Bhawan) in Cuttack, where he is currently undergoing specialised treatment.

The incident has renewed concerns about stray dog attacks in Odisha, with residents urging authorities to take effective measures to ensure public safety, especially for children.
