Secret Chamber Exposed: 214 Kg Ganja Seized from Bolero in Koraput
Koraput: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Machhkund Police in Odisha’s Koraput district seized 214 kilograms of ganja concealed inside a specially designed secret compartment of a Bolero pickup vehicle and arrested the driver.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of a large consignment of cannabis from Malkangiri towards destinations outside Odisha, police launched intensified surveillance on the Machhkund route.
A special checking operation was conducted near Hanumal village, where officers intercepted a suspicious Bolero pickup vehicle.
During a thorough inspection, police discovered a hidden chamber ingeniously built into the vehicle.
The compartment contained 214 kilograms of ganja packed for transportation.
The consignment was seized in the presence of a local magistrate following legal procedures.
The driver, identified as Rinku Pangi, a resident of Baddural village in Malkangiri district, was taken into custody.
The vehicle used for transporting the contraband was also seized by police.
Officials suspect the consignment was part of an organised interstate drug trafficking network.
Investigators are now working to trace the origin of the seized ganja, identify its intended recipients, and determine the involvement of other individuals linked to the smuggling operation.
The seizure highlights ongoing efforts by Odisha Police to curb illegal narcotics trade routes operating through the state’s southern districts.
