Rajnath Singh to Visit HAL Sunabeda, Review Defence Production Facilities

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility at Sunabeda in Odisha’s Koraput district on Tuesday.

The visit is expected to underscore the Centre’s continued focus on strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing and enhancing India’s aerospace capabilities.

During his visit, the Defence Minister will inspect key production, maintenance, and engine manufacturing units at the HAL Sunabeda complex.

He is also expected to interact with senior officials, engineers, and technical experts to review ongoing projects, assess production targets, and discuss measures aimed at improving operational efficiency.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is expected to accompany the Defence Minister during the visit.

The programme highlights the strategic importance of the HAL Sunabeda Division, which plays a crucial role in supporting India’s defence preparedness and self-reliance initiatives under the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.

Authorities have put in place extensive security arrangements across Koraput district ahead of the high-profile visit.

Additional security personnel have been deployed, while surveillance and route monitoring have been strengthened to ensure smooth movement and safety throughout the programme.

HAL Sunabeda is regarded as one of India’s significant aerospace and defence manufacturing facilities.

The Defence Minister’s visit is expected to provide further impetus to efforts aimed at modernising defence production and expanding indigenous capabilities in the sector.
