Betnoti R&B Engineer Under Vigilance Scanner in DA Probe; Raids Conducted at 10 Locations

Baripada: Odisha Vigilance on Monday launched simultaneous searches at 10 locations linked to Arabinda Mohanty, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Rural Works (R&B) Sub-Division, Betnoti, in connection with allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The searches are being conducted on the strength of warrants issued by the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada.

A multi-member Vigilance team, comprising five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), eight Inspectors, and other supporting staff, has been deployed for the operation.

According to Vigilance officials, simultaneous raids are underway across Mayurbhanj, Baleshwar and Khordha districts.

The locations under search include residential properties associated with the engineer, his office and official residence in Betnoti, a farmhouse, ancestral property, and premises linked to alleged associates.

Among the places being searched are a double-storeyed residential building at Angargadia in Baleshwar district, another residential house at Balianta in Khordha district, his office chamber and government quarters in Betnoti, his paternal house at Jaleswar, a farmhouse at Basantapur, and a house at Bamapada.

Houses belonging to three associates are also under the Vigilance scanner.

The anti-corruption agency stated that the raids are part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of disproportionate assets against the engineer.

However, no conclusions have been drawn so far, and the allegations remain under investigation.

Vigilance authorities said detailed findings and the valuation of any assets detected during the searches will be disclosed after the completion of the operation.
