MoU Signed to Boost Clean Energy and Livelihoods in Six Districts
The Odisha government has signed a five‑year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the SELCO Foundation to drive sustainable development across six southern districts — Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri.
The collaboration, led by the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, will focus on clean energy, sustainable livelihoods, health and nutrition, climate‑resilient development, tribal knowledge, skill development, and entrepreneurship.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg emphasised that the initiative aligns with Odisha’s Vision 2036 and India’s Vision 2047, aiming to ensure prosperity, health, and equality.
The program will prioritise farmers, women, self‑help groups, youth, artisans, tribal communities, persons with disabilities, and rural micro‑entrepreneurs.
A key feature of the partnership is the establishment of SEVA Hubs — Centres for Expertise and Enablers for Rural Transformation — designed to coordinate local needs, build capacity, connect communities with technology and finance, and scale successful innovations.
Progress will be monitored monthly, with biannual reviews chaired by the Chief Secretary.
The initiative builds on SELCO’s ongoing renewable energy work in Odisha, integrating government schemes with last‑mile innovations to empower marginalised communities.
