Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha 2026: CM Majhi Launches Dairy & Fisheries Revolution

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi inaugurated the three-day Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO-2026) at Janata Maidan, highlighting the state government’s ambitious plans to revolutionise fisheries and livestock sectors under the theme “Innovative Interventions in Fisheries and Livestock for Viksit Odisha.”

Majhi underscored the success of the Kamadhenu Yojana, which has boosted daily milk production by 1.35 lakh litres in just 18 months. With a budgetary outlay of Rs 1,400 crore, the scheme offers up to 70% subsidy for crossbred cows and buffaloes, benefiting 4.73 lakh farmers.

Incentives such as Rs 2 per litre via OMFED and artificial insemination services for 2.3 lakh cattle rearers have further strengthened dairy farming.

The CM emphasised that integrated farming—combining agriculture with fisheries, goat, poultry, and duck rearing—has raised average household incomes above Rs 61,000 annually.

Odisha, currently ranked fourth in national fish production, aims to become the No.1 state in fisheries output, supported by schemes like Mukhyamantri Matsyajibi Kalyan Yojana and PM Matsya Sampada Yojana.

Awards were conferred on achievers in dairy and fisheries, including the prestigious Gopal Ratna and Native Breed Conservation Award.

The government also reiterated its commitment to cow protection, with plans to allocate land for gaushalas across the state.

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari and Fisheries Minister Gokulananda Mallik joined the CM in stressing innovation, infrastructure, and farmer welfare as the pillars of Odisha’s livestock and fisheries growth strategy.
