Majhi Trims Convoy: From 12 Cars to 7

Bhubaneswar: In a symbolic gesture of austerity and responsible governance, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has reduced his official convoy from 12 vehicles to 7.

The decision comes in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to citizens to conserve fuel amid a global oil shortage triggered by the West Asia conflict.

Previously, the CM’s convoy included a pilot vehicle, a bulletproof SUV, a signal jammer, an ambulance, and several protocol cars.

The streamlined convoy now consists of only essential vehicles — pilot car, CM’s official car, bulletproof SUV, warning vehicle, fire tender, and ambulance.

Officials said the move will significantly cut fuel costs while sending a strong message of solidarity during rising oil prices.

The Chief Minister’s decision is expected to inspire other leaders and citizens to adopt similar conservation measures, reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility in times of crisis.
