Low-Pressure System to Bring Heavy Rainfall Across Odisha from September 19

A cyclonic circulation over northern Thailand is expected to move into the North Andaman Sea by September 18, leading to the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal on September 19.

The system is likely to intensify and trigger widespread rainfall across Odisha.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for 20 districts today, cautioning residents about thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate showers.

Heavy rainfall is forecast in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore districts tomorrow, with southern Odisha bracing for intense showers from September 19.

Rainfall activity will gradually increase across the state by September 20, with the system expected to persist for at least three days.

Authorities have urged people to remain alert and take necessary precautions against possible waterlogging and localised flooding.
