Koraput MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka Honored with Sansad Ratna Award 2026 for Rural Development Leadership
Koraput MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka has been conferred the prestigious Sansad Ratna Award 2026, recognising his outstanding contributions to rural development and parliamentary excellence.
As Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Ulaka steered the presentation of 41 reports in the 18th Lok Sabha.
These reports addressed critical issues including MGNREGA, PMGSY (rural roads), DILRMP (land records modernisation), tribal rights, Panchayati Raj empowerment, and strengthening grassroots democracy.
Instituted in 2010 by the Prime Point Foundation on the suggestion of former President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the Sansad Ratna Awards honour MPs based on objective performance data.
Expressing gratitude, Ulaka dedicated the award to the people of Koraput, acknowledging their trust and support.
He emphasised that representing a rural and tribal constituency has deepened his understanding of community challenges, and reiterated that parliamentary committees must rise above politics to deliver effective policy outcomes.
