Charan Singh Meena Takes Charge as DIG Northern Range

Sambalpur: IPS officer Charan Singh Meena officially took charge as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Northern Range today.

Before assuming office, Meena offered prayers at Maa Samaleswari temple and later received the charge from outgoing IG Himanshu Kumar Lal.

Expressing gratitude to the Odisha Government, Meena pledged to prioritise law and order, crime control, and the safety of women and children.

He emphasised strict action against the illegal narcotics trade and highlighted the need to strengthen police capacity to combat cybercrime.

To achieve these goals, Meena announced plans for technical training of police personnel and public awareness campaigns.

He assured that the police force will remain accessible, sensitive, and accountable to citizens.

Seeking cooperation from the media and public of Sambalpur, Meena vowed to work towards building a crime‑free society.
