Koraput Bans Sale of Non-Veg Items on Republic Day to Uphold Dignity of Celebrations
Koraput: In a significant move to preserve the solemnity of Republic Day, the Koraput district administration has announced a ban on the sale of non-vegetarian food items on January 26, 2026.
The directive, issued by Collector and District Magistrate Manoj Satyawan Mahajan, prohibits the sale of meat, chicken, fish, eggs, and related products across the district for the day.
Officials including Tahsildars, Block Development Officers, and Executive Officers have been instructed to ensure strict compliance and notify local shopkeepers.
The administration has appealed to citizens and traders to cooperate, emphasizing that the measure is intended to maintain the dignity and decorum of the 77th Republic Day celebrations.
This year’s Republic Day events will see participation from around 240 Panchayat heads and dignitaries, highlighting grassroots leadership and community involvement in the district’s celebrations.
The ban is expected to reinforce the cultural and ceremonial significance of the national occasion.
