Khordha ASI Escapes With Bribe During Vigilance Trap

Odisha Vigilance has registered a corruption case against Akshaya Kumar Sethy, Assistant Sub‑Inspector at Nachuni Police Station, Khordha district.

Sethy allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 (Rs 5,000 from each party) to dispose of a land dispute case despite a compromise between the parties.

Acting on a complaint, Vigilance laid a trap on July 10, 2026, during which Sethy accepted Rs 5,000 from one party.

However, upon spotting the Vigilance team, he fled the scene on his motorcycle with the bribe money.

Searches are underway at locations linked to him, and a case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

Efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the ASI, with further investigation continuing.
