Odisha Cadre IPS Officer Resigns During Training

Chaudhary Abhijit Ramdas, a 2025‑batch IPS officer allotted to the Odisha cadre, has resigned from service while still undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.

Ramdas, 33, hailing from Maharashtra, had cleared the Civil Services Examination in 2025 but had not yet received a posting in Odisha as he was still on probation.

His resignation comes without an official explanation, and he has not issued a public statement.

The development follows closely after Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena opted for voluntary retirement, sparking speculation about back‑to‑back exits in the Odisha cadre.

Officials, however, clarified that no connection has been established between the two cases.

Observers suggest the resignations highlight challenges in retaining young officers, raising concerns about the pressures faced by new recruits.

The Odisha Police has yet to release an official statement.
