The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh warnings for several districts of Odisha, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds over the next five days.
An Orange Warning has been declared for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore, where heavy showers, lightning, and wind speeds of 50–60 kmph are expected.
A Yellow Warning covers Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagarh, with thunderstorms and winds of 40–50 kmph likely.

The IMD cautioned that strong winds may damage crops, uproot trees, disrupt power supply, and affect communication networks. Transportation and daily life could be impacted in vulnerable districts.
In addition, isolated heat wave conditions are expected in Koraput and Khordha, while warm nights may occur in Bolangir.
Coastal districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, and Ganjam may experience hot and humid weather.
Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is predicted across Odisha until June 11, gradually shifting towards southern and western districts such as Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors during lightning, avoid sheltering under trees or near water bodies, and unplug electrical appliances during severe weather.
Farmers are urged to safeguard crops and livestock. Citizens are requested to follow local administration and traffic advisories for safety.
