Odisha Vigilance Seizes Crores in Historic Anti‑Corruption Drive
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has achieved unprecedented success in its anti‑corruption drive, recording historic cash seizures over the past two years.
The agency’s intensified operations have exposed large‑scale disproportionate assets among government officials across departments.
On June 6, 2026, Vigilance officers seized Rs 2.04 crore from Baikuntha Nath Behera, Assistant Executive Engineer of ITDA Baliguda in Kandhamal.
Earlier, on February 24–25, 2026, a record Rs 4.28 crore was recovered from Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of Mines, Cuttack Circle — the highest ever seizure against a mining officer.
Other major recoveries include Rs 73.66 lakh from Jitendra Kumar Panda, Additional Tahasildar of Baranga (December 30, 2025), Rs 1.43 crore from Deputy Ranger Rama Chandra Nepak in Jeypore Forest Range (July 25, 2025), and Rs 2.56 crore from Chief Engineer Baikuntha Nath Sarangi of the Rural Works Department (May 30, 2025).
The Vigilance also seized Rs 2.08 crore from Santanu Mohapatra, Deputy Director & Project Director of Watershed, Malkangiri, on February 6, 2025.
These record‑breaking recoveries highlight the agency’s aggressive crackdown on corruption, reinforcing accountability and transparency in public service.
