Illegal Cattle Transport Foiled in Jharsuguda, Five Cows Dead
Jharsuguda, April 13: In a dramatic incident, Bajrang Dal activists intercepted a truck carrying 40 cattle near H Kantapali on the National Highway in Jharsuguda district.
The truck, bearing registration number OD‑16‑G‑5192, was allegedly transporting cattle illegally from Chhattisgarh to Jharsuguda.
Despite repeated attempts to stop the vehicle at Gobindpur tollgate and Gandhi Chhak in Brajrajnagar, the driver sped away recklessly, abandoning the truck near the Ib river bridge.
Tragically, five cows died during the transport.
Hundreds of Bajrang Dal workers gathered at the site and rescued the cattle.
The Jharsuguda Sadar police, led by IIC Swapnarani Gochhayat, assisted in shifting the animals to a Gosheba centre.
Authorities confirmed the deaths were caused by the driver’s reckless driving.
This incident has sparked renewed calls for stricter enforcement against illegal cattle trafficking in the region.
