IAS Officer Bishnupada Sethi Granted Interim Bail Amidst Ongoing CBI Bribery Probe
Bhubaneswar, July 3(OT Webdesk): The Odisha High Court has extended interim protection to senior IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi in connection with an ongoing bribery investigation conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The relief comes after the agency conducted a search operation at Sethi’s residence in a case involving an alleged Rs 10 lakh bribe tied to the Bridge and Roof Corporation Limited.
While Sethi’s name does not appear in the official FIR, the probe’s widening scope prompted the senior bureaucrat to file a plea for anticipatory bail.
During the preliminary hearing, the High Court instructed that no coercive action be taken against him or his family.
The next hearing has been scheduled for July 8, providing a crucial window of legal breathing space for the officer.
The case centres around alleged irregularities in the clearance of a bill linked to Bridge and Roof Corporation, where Sethi’s role remains under scrutiny but unproven.
The CBI’s decision to search his residence has added a layer of public interest and administrative sensitivity to the high-profile investigation.
As the legal proceedings continue, the spotlight remains firmly on the evolving developments surrounding one of Odisha’s top bureaucrats.
