Heavy Rainfall Forces School and Anganwadi Closure in Malkangiri
Malkangiri district administration has declared a holiday for all schools and Anganwadi centres today following an alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The precautionary step comes after the district recorded 804 mm of rainfall, with Chitrakonda reporting the highest at 192 mm.
Authorities have also cancelled leave for government employees to ensure emergency preparedness.
The Collector has directed officials to stock dry food supplies and monitor the situation closely.
This decision covers institutions from primary to higher secondary levels, aiming to safeguard students and residents amid the ongoing heavy downpour.
