Heatwave Forces Closure of Schools and Anganwadi Centres in Khordha
Khordha, April 19: In response to severe heatwave conditions, the District Collector has ordered the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centres in Khordha district from April 20 to April 23, 2026.
The directive applies to both government and private institutions, as well as early childhood care centres.
Authorities emphasized that the precautionary measure prioritizes child safety, given the risks of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other heat‑related illnesses.
Parents and caregivers have been advised to ensure children remain hydrated and avoid outdoor exposure during peak hours.
The administration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding students amid rising temperatures.
