Gold and Silver Edge Higher on MCX but Stay Below Peaks

Bhubaneswar, April 19: Precious metals recorded modest weekly gains on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), though prices remain significantly below their record highs earlier this year.

Silver May 5 expiry contracts surged by ₹14,805, rising from ₹2,43,274/kg on April 10 to ₹2,58,079/kg by week’s end.

Despite the rebound, silver continues to trade far below its January peak of ₹4,39,337/kg.

Similarly, 24‑carat gold advanced by ₹1,953, climbing from ₹1,52,652/10g on April 10 to ₹1,54,605/10g on Friday.

The yellow metal remains ₹48,379 short of its record high of ₹2,02,984/10g.

Market analysts attribute the uptick to global economic factors, inflationary trends, and currency movements, while cautioning that volatility persists.
