Fake Homoeopathy Doctor Arrested for Running Illegal Abortion Clinic in Cuttack

Cuttack, April 17: Police in Badamba, Cuttack district, have arrested Jayant Bastia, who posed as a homoeopathy doctor, for allegedly running an illegal abortion clinic for over a decade.

The raid, led by Sub-Inspector Biswa Bandita Sahoo near Sunapal Bazaar, uncovered shocking evidence of unauthorized medical practices.

Officers rescued a woman in critical condition, who is now receiving treatment.

Authorities seized medical instruments including a suction machine, surgical dilators, operation tools, injections, and medicines.

Investigators suspect that sex determination tests may also have been conducted at the clinic.

A case has been registered under Case No. 141/2026, supervised by IIC Paramananda Nayak, and further investigations are underway to identify accomplices and other illegal operations.
