Bolangir Schools and Colleges Closed Amid Severe Heatwave
Bolangir, April 17: The Bolangir district administration has announced holidays for all schools and colleges from April 18 to 21 due to the ongoing severe heatwave.
District Collector ordered the closure after the region recorded some of the highest temperatures in Odisha, with scorching heat and dry winds disrupting normal life.
The situation will be reviewed after April 21 to decide if the holidays need to be extended.
Earlier, School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond had directed district collectors to take decisions on heatwave holidays based on local conditions.
Bolangir is the first district to implement the directive.
Parents and teachers welcomed the move, while health officials urged students to stay indoors, avoid exposure, and remain hydrated during the break.
