Eastern States Unite to Combat Narcotics and LWE
Bhubaneswar: Top police officials from Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh convened in Bhubaneswar under the Eastern Regional Police Coordination Committee (ERPCC) to strengthen inter‑state cooperation against organised crime, narcotics trafficking, cybercrime, human trafficking, and Left‑Wing Extremism (LWE).
Chaired by Odisha DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, the meeting saw participation from DGPs of neighbouring states and senior officers of CAPFs and central agencies.
Key discussions focused on rehabilitation of surrendered LWE cadres, curbing inter‑state narcotics networks, enhancing railway security, tackling illegal infiltration, and improving real‑time intelligence sharing for cybercrime investigations.
Consensus was reached on institutionalising regular coordination meetings to review progress and share best practices.
DGP Khurania emphasised that the decisions taken will bolster law enforcement capabilities and reinforce national security across Eastern India.
