Cobra Sparks Panic at Malkangiri Hospital
Malkangiri, April 28: A dramatic incident unfolded at the District Headquarters Hospital in Malkangiri when a massive king cobra was discovered inside the Ganesh Temple located within the hospital premises.
The temple priest spotted the snake during morning rituals and fled as the cobra raised its hood aggressively, hissing loudly. The sight triggered panic among patients and attendants nearby.
Hospital authorities immediately contacted the Snake Help Line, and a rescue team swiftly arrived.
The cobra, which had already swallowed a rat, was safely captured without causing harm.
No injuries or snakebites were reported.
Doctors suggested the reptile likely entered from the dense forest surrounding the hospital complex.
Authorities assured that preventive measures will be taken to stop snakes from entering hospital premises in the future.
This incident highlights the challenges of wildlife proximity to medical facilities in forested regions and the importance of rapid rescue response to ensure patient safety.
