Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Fulfills Promise with Barbil Ring Road Foundation
Barbil — Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited Barbil Bypass Ring Road Project, fulfilling a promise he made to the people of Barbil last year.
The project, spanning over 18 kilometres, is set to transform traffic management and economic activity in the mining hub of Kendujhar district.
Key Announcements and Projects
– Foundation & Inauguration:
– Inauguration of 24 projects worth Rs. 29.41 crore.
– Foundation stone laid for 51 projects worth Rs. 326.43 crore.
– Barbil Ring Road:
– Length: 18.32 km.
– Investment: Rs. 1,581.21 crore.
– Designed to handle 40,000 passenger cars per day, easing congestion from the current 15,375 daily vehicles.

– Infrastructure Boost:
– Rs. 298 crore allocated for a new power sub-station in Joda, Basudevpur, and Barbil.
– Directive to expedite the construction of the 8-lane Barbil–Paradip highway.
– Foundation for Bamburi–Palasa–Guruda–Koida road (10 km, Rs. 95 crore) and Suaakati–Dubuna–Kalimati road (7.5 km, Rs. 30 crore).
– Upgradation of Palaspanga–Bamburi KIDCO Road (5.5 km, Rs. 30 crore).
– Development of sports infrastructure, bus stand, ITI staff quarters, town hall park, and sub-registrar office in Barbil.

CM’s Vision for Kendujhar
Majhi emphasised that infrastructure is the backbone of prosperity, highlighting roads, bridges, electricity, and drinking water as essential pillars.
He assured that the government is committed to building a “Prosperous Kendujhar, Prosperous Odisha” under the double-engine government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

– Mega Steel Plant: Preparations are underway for a mega steel plant in Kendujhar, with the foundation stone to be laid soon.
Any industry investing over Rs. 10,000 crore and creating 10,000+ jobs will receive full administrative support from the state.
– Power Grid Substation: A Rs. 1,647 crore grid substation has been approved, to be completed in three years, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for residential and industrial areas.
– National Connectivity:
– Brahmapur–Jaipur Expressway (287 km, Rs 9,000 crore).
– Paralakhemundi–Bargarh Expressway via Namo Corridor.
– Atal Expressway (969 km) connecting Motu (Malkangiri) to Tiringi (Mayurbhanj), passing through Kendujhar.

Social Empowerment
The Chief Minister also echoed Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to women’s empowerment, noting the upcoming 33% reservation bill for women in legislatures, which will increase representation in Odisha’s Assembly.
