Chief Secretary Reviews Puri Rath Yatra Readiness
Puri: Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg has directed all departments to complete preparatory works for the upcoming Puri Rath Yatra by June 30, 2026.
Chairing a high‑level review meeting, she emphasised inter‑departmental coordination to ensure a safe and smooth festival experience for lakhs of devotees.
Key updates include timely arrival of timber for the chariot construction, widening and beautification of roads, installation of high‑mast lighting along Bada Danda, and creation of temporary parking zones.
Over 1,600 toilets, including bio‑toilets, will be set up, while temporary health centres with beds are being established.
Sanitation drives, drain desilting, and encroachment removal are underway.
Ambulance corridors and traffic management plans have been mapped to handle emergencies.
The Chief Secretary stressed regular ground reviews and strict adherence to deadlines to guarantee a hassle‑free Rath Yatra on July 16, 2026.
