BSF-DVF Joint Operation Foils Maoist Plot in Malkangiri
Malkangiri: In a major breakthrough against Maoist insurgency, security forces unearthed a hidden cache of explosives during a joint operation on July 24, 2026.
Personnel from COB Ghanabeda (177 Battalion BSF) and the District Voluntary Force (DVF) discovered the stockpile between Arapadar and Ghusumpadar villages under Jodambo Police Station limits.
The recovery included three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 32 gelatin sticks, 11 detonators, 500 grams of gunpowder, Cordex wire, batteries, a solar panel, radio sets, torches, and iron nails.
Officials confirmed that the cache was intended for attacks on security personnel and civilians along the Odisha–Chhattisgarh border.
Authorities emphasised that the operation has thwarted potential Maoist strikes, strengthening safety in the region.
Once considered a Maoist stronghold, Malkangiri has witnessed increasing dominance of security forces, restoring normalcy and confidence among residents.
Security agencies reiterated their commitment to intelligence-driven operations to dismantle Maoist infrastructure and ensure lasting peace in southern Odisha.
