Bhubaneswar Doctor Duped of ₹1 Crore in Land Fraud; Accused Arrested

Bhubaneswar police have arrested Ranjit Kumar Sahu for allegedly cheating a female doctor of more than Rs 1 crore in a land fraud case.

Sahu posed as a genuine property seller, using forged documents and multiple bank transactions to extract money.

Initially, he agreed to sell 3,000 sq. ft. of land, collecting advance payments.

Later, he executed fake sale deeds through associates who were not actual owners. He further signed another agreement for 6,000 sq. ft., again failing to deliver land despite receiving large sums.

Police seized agreements, sale deeds, and bank statements showing deposits into accounts belonging to Sahu and his wife.

During interrogation, Sahu confessed to the fraud and was found to have a prior criminal record in Dhenkanal district.

Authorities have urged citizens to thoroughly verify land records and ownership before making payments, warning that property fraud remains a recurring risk in Bhubaneswar’s real estate market.
