Bhadrak Locals Torch Vehicle Over Alleged Illegal Cattle Transport; Police Probe Underway
Bhadrak, Odisha – Tension flared near Bhatatira railway station level crossing under Sabarang police limits when locals intercepted a van suspected of illegally transporting cattle.
The vehicle, reportedly carrying animals in cramped and distressing conditions from Sabarang to Mirzapur, was stopped after residents noticed the cattle tied tightly, raising suspicions of trafficking.
Anger escalated as the crowd set the van ablaze, though more than six cattle were rescued before the fire spread.
The driver fled the scene during the chaos. Fire services quickly responded, dousing the flames and preventing further damage.
Sabarang police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify those involved and verify possible violations of animal welfare and transport laws.
Authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm and allow law enforcement to handle such matters legally.
