BDA Slashes Fuel Use by 25% with New Vehicle Limit

Bhubaneswar, June 2026: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has announced a significant measure to curb fuel consumption by reducing the monthly vehicle usage limit from 2,000 km to 1,500 km.

This step, expected to save nearly 25% of fuel costs, aligns with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s directive to cut petrol and diesel usage across government departments.

BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana emphasised that officials should adopt alternatives such as virtual meetings, workshops, and review sessions to minimise travel.

He also encouraged the use of public transport whenever feasible.

The decision, effective immediately, will remain in force until the fuel shortage situation improves.

Officials believe this initiative will not only reduce expenditure but also promote energy‑efficient governance in Odisha.
