Balasore: Freight Train Derails Near Rupsa Railway Station, Restoration Underway

Balasore witnessed a railway mishap on Thursday when a freight train derailed on the newly constructed fourth line near Rupsa Railway Station under the South Eastern Railway zone.

The incident occurred shortly after the train had unloaded goods, disrupting services in the busy corridor.

Senior railway officials rushed to the site and initiated immediate restoration work. Teams are working on a war footing to repair the damaged track and resume normal operations.

While the exact cause of the derailment remains unclear, authorities have confirmed that a detailed inquiry will be conducted.

This incident comes close on the heels of another freight train derailment in Odisha’s Bondamunda section, raising concerns about track safety and maintenance in the region.
