Odisha Government Reshuffles IPS Cadre, Dr. Saravana Vivek M Appointed Bhubaneswar DCP
Bhubaneswar witnessed a major change in its police leadership as the Odisha government announced the appointment of Dr Saravana Vivek M, a 2015‑batch IPS officer, as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
The reshuffle comes after Jagmohan Meena, who had served as Bhubaneswar DCP since March 2025, resigned from service on September 11, citing personal reasons.
Dr Vivek, an MBBS graduate from Tamil Nadu, has previously served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Rayagada and Berhampur.
He also acted as a police observer for the Election Commission during the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
His appointment marks a significant leadership transition in the Commissionerate Police.
Alongside Vivek’s posting, three other IPS officers were transferred:
- Abhinav Sonkar (2019‑batch), SP Dhenkanal → SP Berhampur
- Mane Ajinkya Baburao (2022‑batch), Addl. SP Paradeep → SP Dhenkanal
- A.B. Silpa (2021‑batch), Asst. SP State HQ → SDPO Bargarh
The reshuffle, ordered by the Governor, takes immediate effect and is expected to strengthen law enforcement across key districts.
