Auto Drivers’ Association Apologizes to Odisha, Admits Mistake Amid Violence Fallout
Bhubaneswar: The Online Smart City Auto Drivers’ Association has issued a public apology to the people of Odisha following violent incidents in the capital.
Association president Dinabandhu Nayak admitted the unrest was a “mistake” born out of anger over livelihood concerns.
Nayak appealed to the Commissionerate Police to stop arrests, threats, and auto seizures, while requesting the release of detained drivers and vehicles.
The clashes in PMG and Master Canteen areas left widespread damage: 113 drivers were arrested, 354 autos seized, and over 14 buses vandalized, causing property losses estimated at Rs 10 lakh.
Despite the apology, police investigations continue, with Nayak himself still under search in connection with the violence.
