Angul Police Seize Brown Sugar and Rs 26 Lakh Cash, Arrest Two Peddlers

Angul: In a major breakthrough against the narcotics trade, Angul police seized 28 grams of brown sugar and Rs 26,00,315 in cash during a raid at a rented house in Hatishalpadar.

The operation was carried out by a special squad following a tip‑off, leading to the arrest of two local peddlers from Kumanda and Sakasingha villages under Angul Sadar police station.

The seized cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, was counted using a currency counting machine in the presence of an executive magistrate to ensure transparency.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and are interrogating the accused to trace the source of the drugs, distribution networks, and possible syndicate links.

Authorities emphasised that this action is part of intensified surveillance and raids against drug traffickers in the district.

The crackdown underscores Angul police’s commitment to curbing the menace of narcotics and safeguarding the community.
