Vigilance Raids Malkangiri Engineer Ahead of Retirement

Odisha Vigilance on Sunday launched simultaneous raids against Shishir Kumar Das, Assistant Executive Engineer at Mathili Block in Malkangiri district, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The operation, authorised by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur, involved a large team comprising an Additional SP, five DSPs, five Inspectors, and supporting staff.

Searches were conducted at multiple locations including a four‑storey building in Baramunda (Bhubaneswar), a two‑storey building in Nilachal Nagar (Berhampur), a house in Basudebpur (Ganjam), his ancestral home in Gajapati Nagar (Berhampur), a rented house in Malkangiri, and his office chamber at DRDA, Malkangiri.

Officials are examining documents and materials seized to assess the scale of disproportionate assets.

The investigation comes just weeks before Das’s scheduled retirement, adding urgency to the probe.
