Veteran Odia Film Producer Rabi Swain Passes Away at 75
Bhubaneswar, April 7: The Odia film industry mourns the loss of veteran producer Rabi Swain, who passed away at the age of 75 while undergoing treatment for liver cirrhosis at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Swain was a respected figure in Odia cinema, known for producing acclaimed films such as Jor Jar Mulak Tar (directed by Raju Mishra), Ki Heba Sua Posile (directed by Basant Sahu), and Panjuri Bhitare Sari and Udandi Sita (directed by Avtar Singh).
His productions earned widespread appreciation and helped shape the industry’s creative landscape.
Beyond cinema, Swain made significant contributions to education in Odisha.
He established institutions, including the Kshetramohan Memorial Trust, Om Shanti College of Science and Technology, Kshetramohan ITC, and Daitari ITC, promoting skill development and higher learning for thousands of students.
Remembered as an industrialist, social worker, and visionary, Rabi Swain leaves behind a dual legacy — enriching Odia cinema and uplifting the state’s educational ecosystem.
