Two Arrested for AC Parts Theft at Lok Seva Bhavan

Bhubaneswar, April 17: Capital Police have arrested Manoj Kumar Das (25) of Tamando and Chandan Palai (27) of Jajpur’s Binjharpur for allegedly stealing AC compressors and copper pipes from the Finance Department at Lok Seva Bhavan.

The thefts, which occurred in phases between November 2025 and March 2026, targeted seven AC units across the roof, ground floor, Sub-Secretary’s chamber, and library.

Security personnel detained the duo, who later confessed during interrogation.

Police have registered a case, produced the accused in court, and further investigation is underway.

The incident has raised concerns about security lapses in government offices and the vulnerability of valuable infrastructure materials.
