SJTA Sanctions Rs 74 Lakh Cooling Project for Puri Jagannath Temple
Puri, Odisha: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has sanctioned Rs 74 lakh for a modern cooling project at the temple’s Natamandap, aiming to enhance the comfort of thousands of devotees visiting daily.
The initiative will introduce a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system, designed to regulate temperature and airflow, reducing heat and humidity inside the temple premises.
Officials said the system will particularly benefit devotees during peak summer months and crowded darshan hours.
The bidding process for the project has already been completed, and installation work is expected to begin soon.
In addition to the cooling system, SJTA plans to implement a dhadi (queue) system at the Natamandap on an experimental basis to streamline crowd management.
Temple authorities emphasised that the project reflects their commitment to improving the devotee experience while maintaining the sanctity of the shrine.
